Entrepreneurship Training as an Effort to Improve Work and Business Readiness of Students at SMK Wijaya Kusuma Surakarta

Abstract

Work readiness and entrepreneurial capability are essential competencies that need to be developed among vocational high school students in facing increasingly competitive job market challenges. However, some students still experience limited knowledge and skills related to entrepreneurship, particularly in identifying business opportunities, developing business plans, and building an entrepreneurial mindset. Therefore, this community service activity aimed to improve students’ work readiness and business preparedness through entrepreneurship training for students of Wijaya Kusuma Vocational High School, Surakarta. The activity was conducted at the Hall of STIE Wijaya Mulya and involved students from Wijaya Kusuma Vocational High School as participants. The methods applied included material presentation, interactive discussions, case studies, and simulations of simple business plan preparation. The training materials covered entrepreneurship concepts, business opportunity identification, business model development, marketing strategies, and the development of entrepreneurial character and motivation. Evaluation was carried out through participant observation and questionnaires before and after the training. The results showed increased understanding of entrepreneurship concepts, improved ability to identify business opportunities, and stronger motivation to become entrepreneurs or enter the workforce.
